2016 Bekkers, McLaren Vale Grenache

En fantastisk Grenache! Bekkers' Grenache får med flaskelagring en fuldstændig utrolig aroma, som man nærmest ikke kan slippe. Kombinationen af druer fra 55-85 år gamle stokke i Kangarilla og Blewitt Springs er sensationel i sin aroma med kirsebær, læder, blomster urter, granatæble, eksotiske krydderi og røde bær. Silkepoleret, afrundet og ganske righoldig i teksturen, har den en fremragende fuldmoden syrebase som giver smuk livlighed ud i en uimodståelig og fuldstændig harmonisk finale. Fuldstændig blændende! 97 points James Halliday: "From vineyards in Kangarilla and Blewitt Springs planted in the ‘30s and ‘60s, open-fermented separately with 20 whole bunches, matured in used French oak before blending. If the Syrah--Grenache is all about complexity, this is all about stealth. The bright, light crimson hue and fragrant bouquet are seemingly fixed to he flagpole of red berry fruits, but just when you think this may simply be a pretty red wine, the previously hidden fine tannins make their appearance. The result is a wine with great length and great purity."

96 points Wine Front: "The 2015 had me in knots but not so with this 2016 Bekkers Grenache. It sees 20% wholebunches, is fermented wild, and all goes into old, large-format oak. Yes it’s warm with alcohol but it’s a quite stupendously good wine. It’s rich with character, fruit and length. It’s a deluxe wine is ever there was one. Dutch chocolate, cranberries, squishy fresh raspberries, freshmint and sarsaparilla. It’s bursting to please but regardless it charges on through the finish, tannin whistling as it passes. It’s terribly good; call it grand and be done."
