Wine Advocate / A. Galloni i august 2008: "I can’t think of too many properties that have made such huge strides in quality as Sottimano has. Recent bottles of the 2001 and 2004 Barbaresco Pajore revealed an enormous leap in elegance and finesse. Fortunately, Sottimano’s entry-level wines are every bit as delicious as their Barbarescos, so readers won’t need to mortgage the house to drink great wines from this producer. I know I am starting to sound like a broken record, but these are truly exceptional wines at this level, or any level for that matter."
"These 2006 Barbarescos from Rino and Andrea Sottimano are divine"
94 points Barbaresco "Fausoni" 2006 "The 2006 Barbaresco Fausoni reveals a gorgeous core of cherries in liqueur, menthol, spices and flowers in a surprisingly rich, round style for the vintage. The wine possesses terrific harmony and balance, with a round, polished finish. Floral notes reappear on the finish, giving the wine a pretty sense of lift. In 2006 the Fausoni is all about elegance."
93 points Barbaresco "Curra" 2006 "The 2006 Barbaresco Curra is a powerful, intense wine that impresses for its focus, length and balance. The Curra doesn’t have the immediacy or roundness of the Fausoni, but it compensates with incredible drive and persistence. Tobacco, licorice, roses, spices and red cherries add layers of nuance on the close."
92 points Barbaresco "Pajoré" 2006 "Sottimano’s 2006 Barbaresco Pajore shows its tell-tale notes of spices, menthol, minerals and dark fruit, on a medium bodied, sinewy frame. The Pajore offers terrific balance with notes of tar, smoke and licorice that come to life on the finish. Patience is the key here, but this remains the most compact and clenched of the 2006s. "
92 points Barbera d'Alba "Pairolero" 2006 "The 2007 Barbera d’Alba Pairolero is sumptuous and rich in its massive dark fruit, flowers, minerals and spices. This is one of the more intense, full-bodied Barberas readers will come across in 2007, and it is utterly delicicous. It will be even better in another year or so, when all of the elements come together more fully. The 2007 Pairolero is an inspired effort!"
91 points 2007 Langhe Nebbiolo: "The 2007 Langhe Nebbiolo is a rich, textured offering laced with dark fruit. Sottimano's Langhe Nebbiolo is made from young vines in the Basarin vineyard in Barbaresco and spends 14 months in French oak. It is a Barbaresco in everything but name and is one of the few Langhe Nebbiolos that could use another year or two in bottle to help soften the tannins. This is a very serious bottle of wine for $25. The powerful finish is long, sweet and harmonious"
Tanzer: "Focus on Dolcetto and Barbera" (Februar 2008) 1. Plads Barbera 2005: Sottimano Pairolero 2005 (førstepladsen deles med 6 andre vine)
Wine Spectator "The top 2004 Barbarescos in my tastings this year are the Bruno Rocca Rabajà (97, $90), the Sottimano Currà (96, $70), the Gaja Barbaresco (95, $180) and the Sottimano Pajoré (95, $70)." 96 pts Barbaresco Currá 2004 "The aromas are gorgeous, with fresh flowers, raspberry and blackberry. Long and powerful, yet with refinement and class." 95 pts Barbaresco Pajoré 2004 "Shows classic aromas of dried roses. Full-bodied, tight and concentrated. This really builds on the palate." 93 pts Barbaresco Fausoni 2004 93 pts Barbaresco Cottá 2004 I Vini d'Italia de L'Espresso - I Vini dell'Eccellenza:
Barbaresco Cottà 2004 Veronelli 2008 - 3 stjerner: Barbaresco Cottà 2004 Barbaresco Currà 2004 Barbaresco Fausoni 2004 Duemilavini - 5 klaser
Barbaresco Pajorè 2004 Gambero Rosso - 3 glas
Barbaresco Currà 2004 Antonio Gallioni - Piemonte Report:
"Andrea Sottimano is without question the young winemaker who continues to show the most improvement in Barbaresco, which this year is evident in the Dolcetto and Barbera bottlings. Driven by a contagious energy and passion, as well as a healthy love for the wines of Burgundy, Sottimano shows a level of commitment to excellence I wish were more the rule rather than the exception in these parts."
